Rediscovering statistics

For most of us, our first experience of learning statistics has been a forgettable experience. That is because the way statistics is taught is not how people learn. People learn through experiences, and the more the learning is tied to them, the better it is.

Off late I have been trying to collect material that can help me prepare such a program. In the process I came across a few interesting books which I felt really address this well.

A wonderful book that traces the history of statistics in an interesting format. You understand the evolution of statistics, the great personalities who shaped the growth and some interesting anecdotes as well. A very interesting read that I think should precede anyone's study of statistics.

Again an interesting read, this is a book that attempts to explain statistics minus the nasty formulae and has done a good job at it. Probably the best dummies guide.
And the search continues...
